An Exquisite Gillows Antique Billiard table circa 1800

An outstanding original Gillows antique billiard table, this table is the epitome of understated elegance, standing on six finely tuned octagonal legs with beautifully carved Tudor Rose Patrae to the frame and leg blocks.

We believe this is the earliest known example on the open market today and most definitely the only six legged Gillows Billiard table available worldwide.

The mahogany used in the construction is a fabulous cut, we have dated the table to 1810 with the help of our own records and the assistance of The Judges Lodges Gillows Museum in Lancaster.

We have included an image showing the bare frame of the table without the slates and cloth, this sub-structure is equally beautifully constructed from solid oak and completely original to the table.

Also illustrated is an original page from a sketchbook belonging to Gillows, this clearly illustrates the option of an octagonal leg on a billiard table.(Far right leg)
