An early Antique Gillows Billiard-Snooker table, circa 1820

October 2014

Recently we were recommended by an existing client to assist in the supply of a complete Billiard room suite that was required for a Grade 1 listed property in the North of England, the new client had specific requirements of An early "Gillows" Billiard table circa 1820, antique lighting and associated antique accessories.

I met the client on site and discussed the project, we agreed on a handshake that I would source the items and he would approve the subsequent purchases.I already had a suitable Gillows billiard table in stock which he agreed to buy,  over the next couple of months I duly sourced a superb original antique lamp, a pair of matching viewing benches, decorative prints, a cue stand and scoring board.

The table required extremely sympathetic restoration, we simply cleaned and revived the old finish and waxed it, the rubbers had perished and the these were replaced with NR Rubbers and Strachan 6811 Tournament cloth.

The end result is spectacular billiard room, with wonderful items that compliment each other perfectly.

After completion and installation the client organized a grand opening with around 100 guests and a special appearance by ex World snooker Champion Joe Johnson who played a series of exhibition frames."
